Florist

Job description: Florists will report to the owner and/or lead designer. In this part-time position, she/he/they will perform duties in the areas of 1) daily shop operations and 2) events.

This position will be a commitment of 2-3 days and approximately 12-15 hours per week: Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30-5:15 plus some weekends. The workday may begin earlier and/or end later during busy weeks.

Qualifications: A successful florist must be an organized, adaptable, and reliable self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are crucial to this role. Design experience, both retail and event design, are required for this role. (Note: If you do not have previous design experience but are interested in floristry, please see the “Florist in Training” position.) Candidates should be able to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 30 pounds, and have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

1) Daily Operations

  • Participate in daily fulfillment of floral orders including taking orders, product creation printing arrangement notes, deliveries, and sending delivery confirmations.

    • Florists are able to independently design and prepare custom floral arrangements for walk-in customers, deliveries, events, and holidays.

  • Receive and process flowers and retail goods.

  • Perform opening and closing store duties including but not limited to sweeping, watering plants, processing flowers, flower bar upkeep, etc.

  • Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service both in person and over the phone.

  • Assist with local deliveries and send delivery confirmations.

    • Florists use their own vehicles for deliveries and are compensated for mileage. (see below)

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

2) Off-site Events

  • Assist with the creation, setup, and cleanup of off-site events. Tasks may include transporting flowers and supplies to and from venues, placing centerpieces, arranging and lighting candles, climbing ladders, helping load and unload flowers and supplies, and other duties.

    • Note: Setup and cleanup often require heavy lifting, and you may be asked to use your personal vehicle to drive flowers and/or supplies to and from venues.

  • Florists may be asked to assist with the setup and/or clean-up of up to two weekend events per month. All efforts should be made to be available for major holiday weeks and event weekends.

    • Note: Off-site events typically occur outside of our standard business hours. They may require early morning start times and late night end times.

Compensation and Time Commitment

  • This is considered a part-time position, which will be a weekly commitment of 2-3 days and approximately 12-15: Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30-5:15 plus some weekends and/or additional weekdays during event and holiday weeks.

    • This position requires availability during peak floral holidays, including Valentine’s Day week, Mother’s Day weekend, and the days leading up to Thanksgiving. These are some of our busiest and most meaningful times; being part of the team during these dates is essential.

  • Florists will be paid on an hourly basis plus milage compensation for deliveries.

    • Starting pay: $17+/hour (based on experience)

    • Milage compensation: $0.67/mile plus hourly wage

Florist in Training

Job description: Florists in training (FiT) will report to and work alongside the owner and/or lead designer to develop floral design skills. In this part-time position, she/he/they will perform duties in the areas of 1) daily shop operations and 2) events.

Qualifications: A successful FiT must be an organized, adaptable, and reliable self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively are crucial to this role. This is a training role. While professional design experience is not required, some experience with and knowledge of flowers is preferred. Candidates should be able to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 30 pounds, and have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Receive and process flowers and retail goods.

  • Perform opening and closing store duties including but not limited to sweeping, watering plants, processing flowers, flower bar upkeep, etc.

  • Assist in-store customers with floral (flower bar, drop-in arrangements, etc.) and retail purchases.

  • Assist with flower deliveries and send delivery confirmations.

    • Florists use their own vehicles for deliveries and are compensated for mileage. (see below)

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 2) Off-site Events
